Romantic Deer Park Villa Wedding

Apr 24, 2020

Chelsea & Adam’s wedding at Deer Park Villa was the most stunning, magical and romantic day! And it is still one of my favorite weddings of all time! When I first met Chelsea & Adam over coffee, I knew immediately that I needed to plan & design their wedding. It honestly felt like we had been lifelong friends!

Plus when they showed me their ideas for their design & told me they picked Deer Park Villa, I was hooked! I knew we could create something super special & gorgeous together, and I was right!

Chelsea & Adam’s wedding had so many special & personal moments that I can’t wait to share with you! So in honor of their 1 year anniversary, let’s take a peek inside their beautiful wedding at Deer Park Villa in Fairfax, CA.

Antique Romance Design

Ok, let’s chat design, my favorite part! Chelsea & Adam’s wedding design was simply stunning. Deer Park Villa has such a magical quality and you feel it as soon as you step onto the property. The towering, majestic redwoods at Deer Park Villa make you feel like you’ve stepped into an enchanted forest, and that was the inspiration for our design.

We created a gorgeous wedding design that we called “antique romance.” We wanted the ambiance to feel super romantic, but also intimate. We incorporated dramatic dark wine & berry hues throughout the design, including in our florals! Take a look at that bridal bouquet below & the groom’s vintage boutonniere pin!

For our tablescape design, we did a mixture of farm tables & round tables to add visual interest to the reception space. The couple handpicked vintage books that we used for their centerpieces, along with library cards for each guest at their seat. We also wanted to play with texture on the tables by bringing in rich lush greenery and antique gold candlesticks.

Heirloom Lace on her Bouquet

If you take a closer look at Chelsea’s bouquet, you will see a piece of cream lace ribbon tied around the stems. This piece of lace is a family heirloom that belonged to Adam’s grandmother that Chelsea wanted to incorporate. This seriously warms my heart so much!

P.S. those adorable embellished sneaks are the bride’s dancing shoes! How cute are they?

Their Sentimental Welcome Sign

I also love to tell the story about their “welcome mirror.” I had a meeting with Chelsea & Adam at their apartment and commented on how much I loved the gold mirror I saw hanging in their home. Chelsea found the mirror when they lived in New York & refurbished it and moved it to CA.

I knew immediately that we needed to incorporate it into their design because of its sentimental value. Not to mention the fact that the mirror fit the essence of our design so perfectly!

It was up to me to find the perfect spot for their mirror, so we decided to use it for their welcome sign! I worked with Rachel from The Bright Line Studio and she did beautiful hand lettering on the mirror for us. It was the first thing that guests saw when they walked into Chelsea & Adam’s wedding! I love adding special details like this into my wedding designs and love how it turned out!

Fun fact: the lettering washed off, so Chelsea & Adam could re-hang it in their home after their wedding.

Their Special First Look

Most of my couples opt for a first look prior to their ceremony, but Chelsea & Adam put a special spin on theirs, which I absolutely loved! They combined their first look with a “Community Circle”. Before the ceremony, they had their closest family and friends wait in a circle with Adam in the middle; and when they were assembled, Chelsea walked into the middle of the circle to join him.

Their officiant, Sarah from Lead Your Love Life, asked their family & friends to share some thoughtful advice or funny stories with them. It was such a touching moment to watch the closest people in their lives share such meaningful words with them before they walked down the aisle.

Handmade Arch

There were so many personal touches woven into their ceremony – so couples take note! Chelsea and Adam said “I-do” beneath towering, majestic redwoods surrounded by their family & friends and stood under the handmade wooden arch that Chelsea’s father built for them. How special is that? It was such a stunning arch & Nature Rules really brought it to life with her gorgeous florals.

Ring Warming Ceremony

Have you ever seen a “ring warming” at a wedding before? I hadn’t and now it might be one of my favorite things! Before the ceremony, I tied their wedding bands together with burgundy velvet ribbon to prep them for the ring warming. During the ceremony their officiant passed the rings through the audience so that each person had the opportunity to touch and hold the rings before they were passed to the next person.

This was an opportunity for each person to bestow their love and well wishes onto the rings. And now I recommend this to all of my couples because I think it is so special!

The Perfect Photo Op

Chelsea and Adam also really wanted a huge group photo with their guests & their photographer, Of Love and Magic, suggested taking the picture right before they were announced husband and wife! And look how great it turned out! It was the perfect moment & I have never seen any of my other couples do this before! Such an amazing idea!

There’s so much to love about this wedding & it was filled with so many special moments and perfect details that truly made it a magical day. Thank you Chelsea & Adam for choosing me as your wedding planner! Wishing you both many more incredible years together!
